MAY 2008 NEWS LETTER

President's Corner

The May campout at Blackhawk wasn’t as warm as last year but, like last year, we did have some rain late Saturday night and Sunday morning.  We used two heaters one from Blackhawk and one from Ron Olsen who was kind enough to bring to the campout.  The heaters kept everyone “hot”.

The attendees were Benhart, Ellsworth, Holecek, Kriz, Leeder, Long, Morris, Olsen, Purcell, Russell, Semitekol, Taylor, Vitte, Willie, Zigler.  Don & Maggie Carter attended their second Cruisin Chariots campout and therefore were presented with a membership application.  In addition Don Russell brought a guest – Maye.  Bill & Nadine Koehne were unable to attend when Nadine’s aunt died on the Tuesday prior to the campout.  Barb Harden and Judy Williams dropped by for most of Saturday.  Don and Craig were up north fishing.  Hope they catch a big one.  Please no “fish” stories.

The Taylor’s brought their new National Tropical LX Motorhome.  It looked great.

On Thursday most went out to dinner at the family restaurant and bar at the corner of Blackhawk Road and Route 251.  On Friday, breakfast was obtained at the Machine Shed restaurant.  Love those eggs.  For Friday night dinner some stayed in and some went out.  Saturday morning the officers (the female officers) created an oatmeal & sweets breakfast.  It was delicious.  After breakfast we had our biannual meeting.  Saturday dinner was chicken (the male officer helped to pickup the chicken) and the members made a dish to pass.  After dinner a reckless game of card bingo ensued.  Sunday morning brought coffee cakes and other sweets.

The chapter meeting consisted of a treasurer and secretary report.  Information on the St Paul FMCA International Convention was presented as well as information on the scheduled 2008 campouts.   Please consult the WEB SITE calendar for more information

Mike Zigler stood up and invited all Chariots to his Corn Boil that will be held near the end of July.  The date will depend on the corn being ripe.  The Thursday after the Blackhawk campout I went to the Illinois State Holiday Rambler Rally where I met with the Red Cardinal Rollers.  The same group that was at Timber Lakes last year when the Cruisin Chariots won a bean bag toss contest.  They are looking forward to a rematch in June.

Hope to see everyone at Timber Lakes in June.
