Much has happened since I last created a
newsletter. In June my
wife Kathy had her right knee replaced and Lou Benhart broke his
leg above his replaced knee, then his wife Mary Jo injured her
knee and in August Mary Ann Leeder had an operation.
Hopefully you are aware of these injuries as I have been
sending out updates. Let
me know if you did not get my e-mails concerning these injuries.
In June the Cruisin Chariots went to Timber Lakes Resort in
Mt. Carroll, Illinois
and the Midwest Area Rally in
Albert Lea, Minnesota.
In July there was the FMCA Convention in
Bowling Green, Ohio
and in August the Kentuckiana RV Resort in Mackinaw,
Illinois.
Before I detail those campouts I want to mention that the
Chariots will be going to the Sandwich Fair in
Sandwich,
Illinois September 9 through the
13th. We
expect to have 19 coaches at Sandwich.
If anyone is planning to come out for the day or still
wants to reserve a camp site make sure you contact Ron Olsen and
send $10 to Linda Ellsworth to cover the food etc. that will be
served.
On October 9 – 11th we will be going to Sycamore RV
Resort in Sycamore,
Illinois.
Please send $43 to Linda Ellsworth at 766 Longtree Dr.,
Wheeling,
IL 60090.
The $43.00 will cover one days camping and the usual $10
to cover food etc. This
campground is asking for one day’s deposit.
Your hosts are the Elsworths and the Holeceks.
In June the Chariots met at Timber Lake Resort in Mt. Carroll, Illinois.
Most went across the street from Timber
Lakes
to the summer theater.
There was also a bean game pitching contest with the Rolling
Cardinals Holiday Rambler Club.
This was the third year that this contest took place.
Vern Long represented the Chariots and won the contest.
Unfortunately your president was unable to attend.
The next June weekend a number of Chariots went to the FMCA
Midwest Area Rally in
Albert Lea, Minnesota where we helped with the daily fee
and the ice cream social.
A thank you to all that helped make the rally a success.
A good time was had by all.
In July a few members went to the FMCA International Convention
in Bowling Green,
Ohio.
It was held on the campus of Bowling Green University.
The Chariots were represented at the FMCA bi-annual
directors meeting by our Alternate Director, Linda Long.
She will report on this meeting at the Chariots biannual
meeting in September in
Sandwich,
Illinois.
Considering the economic situation and that overall
attendance was down the convention was a success.
In August the Chariots went to the Kentuckiana RV Resort in
Mackinaw, Illinois.
This was the first campout that your president was able
to attend since the May campout in Rockford.
The Hardens, Krizs, Longs, Leeders, Morris, Olsen,
Purcells, Vittes and Williams were able to attend.
Thanks to the Krizs and Vittes for their Saturday night
German dinner and cooking some corn on Friday night.
Also a big thank you to Mike and Bev Zigler for growing
great corn. The Semitkols
had to cancel because of a shattered windshield.
Remember the Christmas Dinner will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday
December 13th at Venuti’s on
Lake Street
in Addison, Illinois.
Additional information may be found on the WEB site
cruisinchariots.com
Hopefully this brings everyone up to date.
See you all in Sandwich
Your
President
